Product Cost Calculator – Batch & Unit Pricing for Small Businesses

By RapidTool Team  ·  Last updated: September 2026

The Product Cost Calculator works out the true cost per batch and per unit of a small-batch product — including delivery, wastage and packaging — free and instantly in your browser, with no signup.

Anyone selling a small-batch product — cleaning products, cosmetics, food items, candles, soaps, or oils — usually starts by guessing a selling price. The problem is that a guess ignores delivery charges, packaging, wastage, and the small "other" costs that quietly eat into margin. This free calculator works out your real cost per batch and per unit from the numbers you already have on your purchase receipts.

It supports both common ways small businesses source a product: buying it ready-made and simply adding your own label, or mixing it yourself from raw material, a filler such as water, and your own packaging. Switch between the two modes depending on the product, and compare every product you sell side by side.

What The Calculator Accounts For

Delivery Charges

Spread automatically across every unit bought, instead of being forgotten.

Wastage

A spillage or loss percentage for anything you mix yourself.

Leftover Mixture

Liquid that doesn't fill a whole unit is shown separately and not charged to your batch.

Profit & Revenue

See your total sale value and profit at your chosen selling price, not just your cost.

This follows the standard cost-plus pricing approach described in the U.S. Small Business Administration's guide to pricing products and services — total cost per unit, then margin on top.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of products can I use this calculator for?

Any small-batch product sold in fixed units — cleaning products like phenyl and floor cleaner, cosmetics, food items, candles, soaps, essential oils, or anything else you either buy ready-made or mix yourself and pack into bottles, jars, or containers.

What is the difference between the two costing modes?

"Buy Ready-Made" is for products you purchase already finished and simply relabel with your own branding. "Make It Yourself" is for products you prepare from raw material or concentrate, a filler such as water, and your own packaging and labels.

Does it account for wastage and leftover mixture?

Yes. Set a wastage percentage for spillage or loss during mixing, and any leftover mixture that does not fill a whole unit is shown separately and is not charged to the batch, so your per-unit cost stays accurate.

Is this free, and is my data stored anywhere?

Yes, completely free with no signup. All calculations run in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored anywhere. The result clears if you refresh or close the page, so download it as a CSV or PDF if you want to keep a copy.

Can I download my cost breakdown?

Yes. Once you generate a result, download it as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets, or as a PDF report — either way it includes every cost line, your revenue, and your profit.
