How to Use Page Range Syntax
Our page range input supports flexible notation: enter individual page numbers separated by commas (1, 3, 7), ranges with a dash (1-5, 10-15), or combine both (1-3, 5, 7-9, 12). Page numbers start at 1. Ranges are inclusive — "1-5" extracts pages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I extract just one page from a PDF?
Click on the thumbnail of the page you want to extract — it will become highlighted with a purple border. Then click "Extract Selected Pages" and download the resulting single-page PDF. You can also type just the page number (e.g., "5") in the page range input and click Apply Range to quickly select that page.
Can I extract non-consecutive pages?
Yes. You can select any combination of pages in any order. Click individual thumbnails to select or deselect them, or use the range input with commas to specify non-consecutive pages. For example, entering "1, 3, 5, 9-12" will select pages 1, 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, and 12 for extraction.
Does the extracted PDF maintain the original quality?
Yes. Page extraction copies the exact page content from the original PDF without any re-rendering or quality loss. The extracted pages are byte-for-byte identical to the originals in terms of text, images, fonts, and formatting.
Is there a limit to how many pages I can extract?
There is no limit — you can extract any number of pages, from a single page to all pages in the document. The only practical limitation is your browser's memory for very large PDFs (hundreds of pages at high resolution).
Can I use this tool to delete specific pages from a PDF?
Yes, indirectly. Instead of selecting the pages you want to delete, select all the pages you want to KEEP, then extract them. The result is a new PDF containing only your kept pages. Use "Select All" then deselect the pages you want to remove for efficient deletion of specific pages.
Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF file never leaves your device. All processing — including rendering thumbnails and extracting pages — happens entirely in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib JavaScript libraries. Your document contents remain completely private.
