Why is my subject being erased instead of the background?

This happens when the subject color is too similar to the background, or when the tolerance is set too high. Try reducing the Tolerance slider significantly (try 10–20). Also try the "Pick BG Color" method and manually click on the actual background area of your image so the tool knows exactly which color to remove. Images with clear contrast between subject and background work best.

What backgrounds does this tool work best on?

This tool works best on solid or near-solid color backgrounds — white, black, blue, green screen, etc. The more uniform the background color, the cleaner the result. For studio product photos or passport-style photos, results are excellent. For complex outdoor scenes with varied background colors, the remove.bg AI API mode produces much better results.

How do I get the best results for product photos?

For product photos on white backgrounds: set Tolerance to 25–40, Feather to 2–3, and use "All 4" corners. If the product has white parts that get erased, lower tolerance to 15–20.
